    ERVARINGEN

My name is Ruben and I did an internship for 5 months in West Sumatra in a village called Batusangkar. It is about 3 hours by car from the city of Padang. I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was picked up by my internship supervisor and his colleagues. We drove out of the city and we gradually drove more and more into the mountains with untouched nature around me on both sides. Something I can look at for hours.

And then my internship started for the foundation set up by my internship supervisor. During my internship I taught children. I really enjoyed the inquisitiveness, playfulness and friendliness of these kids. There is still so much for them to learn, but I am extremely grateful that I was able to contribute to the development of the children.

And then the culture, food and nature... In one word: wonderful! I felt very much at home there and enjoyed the unique dishes every day. And to think that I have been able to travel a lot, but also really a lot, next to my internship to admire the most beautiful places in Sumatra!

These 5 months have opened my eyes and started to look at the world differently. An internship that changed my life!
